My Style: Holy Chic

Today's Look:  is all about the creeper shoes.  Creeper shoes have been appearing more and more on celebrities, bloggers, and in stores.  To start the look off, I chose my "Holy Chic" tank top and high-waisted, denim cut-offs.  Since I normally wear black socks with my creepers, I thought I would change it up by wearing sheer black tights. To match the black suede shoes, I wore a black fringed purse.  Finishing off the look, I wore a metallic bracelet, round sunglasses, two rings, and dangle cross earrings.

Fashion Tip:  When wearing black creepers,  I personally like to wear black ankle socks or black tights, but I have also seen high black socks pulled off very nicely.  Below, I included a variety of creepers and a link to get to them.  Let me know what you think by clicking on the comments button at the bottom of the post :)

My Style: Boho Babe

Today's Look:  is all about the beauty of bohemian inspired style.  To start the look off, I chose my loose, flowing, off-white blouse and lace skater skirt.  Even though the outfit hides the waist, the peek-a-boo of the legs makes up for it.  Since the top and skirt are monochromatic, I wanted to add color into the outfit through the accessories.  I chose an intricately woven, spiked necklace that has purples, pinks, and greens braided throughout it, and my patchwork backpack that I bought at a Guatemalan shop in Texas last summer.  Finishing off the look, I wore knee high socks with red and white striped tops that peered over my leather boots slightly, two off-white bracelets, two tarnished gold rings, and braided my hair.

Outfit Details:  Top and Skirt at American Eagle (Tucson, Arizona), Boots by OTBT at zappos.com, Necklace at Earthbound Trading Co. (Sedona, Arizona), Thin Bracelet at American Eagle, Beaded Bracelet at Claire's (Prescott, Arizona), Rings at Aeropostale (Scottsdale, Arizona), Backpack at Market Square (San Antonio, Texas).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing high boots with a skirt, remember to wear long socks.  They not only add to the outfit, but also make the boots more comfortable against your skin.  Below, I included a collage of boho items, as well as a link to get to them.

Style Crush Saturday: Hayley Williams

Style Crush:  Hayley Williams
Known For:  Singing, Songwriting
Style:  Punk, Quirky, Fun, Unusual

This week's Style Crush is the fearless Hayley Williams.  Hayley Williams is an American singer and songwriter who is the lead vocalist of the band Paramore.  Hayley first got discovered at the age of 14 in Nashville where she was originally writing pop songs.  The label, Atlantic Records (A&R), signed her as a solo artist, thinking she would be a pop star, but Hayley objected to the idea, and instead said she wanted to form an alternative rock band.  Agreeing to her wishes, the A&R marketing department advised her to leave their mainstream record label off the album and go with a smaller, "cooler" label titled Fueled by Ramen.  After two years of writing and recording, Paramore released their first album, All We Know is Falling.  Now, the band has released four studio albums, All We Know is Falling, Riot!, Brand New Eyes, and Paramore, as well as two live albums and three EPs.  Paramore has had 10 songs hit Billboard Top 100 and has topped the charts in Europe, even reaching number 1 album in the U.K. in 2009.

Hayley's talents aren't just writing music and singing/performing; she also has an extraordinary talent for staying strong and true to herself.  While growing up, Hayley was a tomboy with divorced parents and a dream to sing.  Being the only female member in the band who originally didn't want a female lead, her past helped her stick up for herself and make her mark.  Hayley's ambitious drive, high energy, and fiery red hair have all become her trademark, forming her own style as she has grown up in the public's eye.  Hayley is known for wearing punked-out ensembles that are anything but ordinary.  She loves standing out from the rest and making a statement.  Her unique style has not only gotten her noticed by girl fans who try to copy their role model, but Hayley has also won Sexiest Woman of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012 in the Kerrang! Readers' Poll.  Whether Hayley is rocking out onstage or turning heads on the red carpet, no one can ignore or forget Hayley Williams.

My Style: Born to be Wild

Today's Look:  is all about being daring.  For this particular look, since school is approaching, I wanted to make an outfit that would work with one of my backpacks.  Today, I chose my Hello Kitty leopard print backpack.  Since the backpack's colors include black, tan, and brown, I chose to add color into the ensemble by wearing a pair of  high-waisted, richly colored burgundy pants and a short-cut, white-washed chambray shirt.  To pull in the tan of the bag, I wore suede ankle boots and a spiked headband to match.  Completing the look, I wore a leopard print ring, a tarnished gold band, tarnished gold leaf earrings, and two bracelets.   Dare to be bold.  Born to be wild.

Outfit Details:  Top by American Rag at Macy's (Tucson, Arizona), Pants by Bullhead Denim Co. at PacSun (Tucson, Arizona), Backpack by Hello Ktty at urbanog.com, Boots by Betsey Johnson at 6pm.com, Ring by Charming Charlie's (Scottsdale, Arizona), Bracelets at American Eagle (Scottsdale, Arizona), Earrings by EB at Earthbound (Flagstaff, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  This school year, have fun with animal print backpacks.  They add a dash of edge to any outfit.  There are so many options out there to choose from, so it was difficult to narrow it down. I included a selection of my favorite nine animal print backpacks and their links below.

My Style: Back It Up

Today's Look:  is all about going back to school.  Now, as a college student I have a lot more freedom in
wardrobe than I did in high school.  In college there is no dress code, so the shorts are going to be shorter and the tops are going to be a tad smaller, but not ridiculous.  To start the look off, I chose my high-waisted, black, polka-dotted shorts and dark pink crop-top.  Since my post is in honor of back to school, I chose to accessorize with a Southwest canvas backpack.  When picking out outfits for school, I love matching my backpack to my outfit.  Normally, people just buy one and use it till it breaks and carry a purse around as well, which seems like a huge hassle in my mind.  I, on the other hand, love to buy a couple of backpacks and switch it up once in awhile, to match whatever outfit I chose for the day.   Finishing off the look, I chose my black military boots, white socks to match the polka-dots, a cross necklace, three silver rings, and silver, bedazzled hoop earrings.  I also curled my hair to add a feminine touch to a somewhat edgy outfit.

Outfit Details:  Crop-top by Wet Seal at Wet Seal (Tucson, Arizona), Shorts by Delia's at Delia's (Tucson, Arizona), Backpack by Forever 21 at Forever 21 (Tucson, Arizona), Boots by Steve Madden nordstrom.com, Earrings by BKE at Buckle (Prescott, Arizona), Rings by Aeropostale at Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Necklace by Forever 21 at Forever 21.

Fashion Tip:  Since summer is coming to an end and back to school shopping is in the works or about to be, remember to focus on buying backpacks as well as clothes.  Growing up, I would always look at people's backpacks and see who is wearing what.  Even though people may not say it, they judge your backpack.  In school, purses tend to be tedious and backpacks are essential, so make sure to buy a backpack or two that compliment your wardrobe.  Southwest inspired backpacks are not only super in right now, but they are also very colorful and work as a great accessory to any ensemble.  Below I included a selection of southwest printed backpacks as well as their links.

Style Crush Saturday: Zendaya Coleman

Style Crush:  Zendaya Coleman
Known For:  Acting, Singing, Dancing
Style:  Glamorous, Fun, Feminine

This week's Style Crush is Zendaya Coleman.  Zendaya is a 16-year old American actress, singer, and dancer best known for her starring role as Rocky Blue on Disney Channel's sitcom Shake It Up.  At the beginning of her career, Zendaya started as a fashion model for Macy's, Mervyn's, and Old Navy.  Even though Zendaya loved fashion, modeling was not all she dreamed of doing.  Zendaya went on to be discovered by the same agent who discovered Miley Cyrus. She was then taken into the Disney machine, launching her career as an actress, dancer, singer, and even landing her a book deal.  Zendaya's most recent TV appearance was on this past season of Dancing with the Stars, in which Zendaya was not only the youngest contestant to ever be on the show, but also ended up winning 2nd place.

After establishing herself as an actress on a hit TV show and nearly winning Dancing with the Stars, Zendaya has set her sights on publishing her first book (Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Confidence and Style) and is set to release her first album later this year.  If the girl can't seem to do enough, she is also in the midst of designing her own fashion line, inspired by her character's clothing on her show, Shake It Up.  The line will be designed for active girls and will include athletic apparel and accessories.  Zendaya is known for saying, "Fashion is my kryptonite."

My Style: Camo Cutie

Today's Look:  is all about the current trend of Aztec-inspired clothing with bold, sharp designs and camouflage print that adds a tomboyish flare.  To start the outfit off, I picked out my high-waisted, camo shorts, and off-white Aztec tank.  The tank is not a crop top, so to show off the high cut of the shorts, I tucked in the top just enough to shorten its appearance, but still let it keep its loose fit.  To match the black-inked Aztec artwork, I wore black sandals and a black, fringed purse.  Finishing off the look, I wore a cross necklace, diamond-shaped chain earrings, two rings, and curled my hair to add a feminine touch.

Outfit Details:  Top and Shorts by Forever 21 at Forever 21 (Tucson, Arizona), Cami by Express at Express (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes by Montego Bay Club at Payless (Prescott, Arizona), Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Necklace by Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Earrings at Target (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing camo for fashion purposes, don't match the camouflage printed item with another green piece of clothing.  The end result looks too military or like hunting gear.  I included some camo selections below along with their links.

My Style: Heartbreaker

Today's Look:  is all about hearts, fringe, and blue.  Today, I channeled a retro, pinup-girl vibe in honor of the summer trend: heart-shaped sunglasses.  Even though heart-shaped sunglasses are a current fashion trend, they can be dated back to as early as the 1950s.  They didn't become popular until after the original promotional photos for the 1962 movie Lolita. Heart-shaped sunglasses were worn by the actress Sue Lyon as photographed by Bert Stern to the right.  Now, once again, heart-shaped sunglasses have gained popularity.

To start the look off, I chose my royal blue, tie-bottom top, and high-waisted jean shorts.  Since the shorts are a very pale blue with white hearts bleached on for design, it was a perfect opportunity to wear my white-rimmed, heart sunglasses.  I also wore white sandals, blue crystal stud earrings, and a white fringed purse to complete the look.

Today's photos were taken at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.  I was in Tucson all week, enjoying the sun and shopping.  I highly recommend the resort if you're looking for 5 star accommodations with pools, tennis courts, golf courses, a spa, and gourmet restaurants.

Fashion Tip:  When trying to pull a purse into an outfit, in winter you match your boots to the purse, but in summer you can match your sandals with the purse.  If you're interested in purchasing some funky heart sunglasses, I included an array as well as their links below.
