My Style: Put A Bird On It

Today's Look: is tomboy chic with a dash of sophistication.  For this look, I collaborated with MakerWear, a fresh, new brand that manufactures hats designed by underground artists.  The hats are currently sold at selected Target stores.  I was very excited when I was contacted about styling and reviewing this awesome hat.  Along with sending me the hat, the company also compensated me with a Target gift card.  To win your own gift card, please see contest details below to be the new face of MakerWear hats!  For this photoshoot, I went on a day trip to the warm and beautiful Sedona red rocks and knew it would be the perfect backdrop.  To start the look off, I determined my color pallet;  the hat consists of navy, red, light blue, and yellow.  Since the hat is the emphasis and has an exciting design, I wore a soft cream colored blouse and taupe jeans.  Matching the skinny jeans, I chose suede/wood wedges.  Next, to compliment the colorful design in the hat, I wore a multi-color, beaded necklace and red clutch.  Finishing off the look, I tied a denim shirt around my waist, and wore stacked bracelets, gold studs, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Hat courtesy of MakerWear available at select Targets, Earrings courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Blouse from Express (Tucson, Arizona), Pants by Bullhead Denim Co. at PacSun (Scottsdale, Arizona), Denim Shirt from Eddie Bauer (Flagstaff, Arizona), Wedges by Jessica Simpson at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Clutch from Charming Charlie (Scottsdale, Arizona), Bracelets from American Eagle (Scottsdale, Arizona), Rings from AĆ©ropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Nails by Impress at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona), Necklace was a gift.

Product Review:  Put A Bird On It designed by J.J. Spectre for MakerWear
For me, wearing a hat is kind of a big deal.  I am picky on how they should fit and how they make my hair look.  This hat has an interesting 5-panel cut that is somewhat of a hybrid between a trucker hat and a baseball cap.  The design is unique in the sense that a girl or guy could rock it.  The material is quality, as well as the lining.  So, overall, the hat has great cut and design.  Honestly, I really like it!

My Style: Sippin' on Sunshine

Today's Look:  celebrates the upcoming season of spring!  Although spring does not officially start till March, the weather was perfect while I was visiting Santa Monica, California.  The sun was shining, the water was cool, and the sand was warm.  For a relaxing walk along the beach and then a lunch date, I wanted to look glamorous and be comfortable--never know whom you might see in L.A, right?  First, I chose the colorful, bodycon dress and long, cream cardigan.  I love this dress from Charlotte Russe, and I was excited to get to wear it!  In Arizona, it's still chilly, so I knew I had to bring it on this trip.  The tribal print is festive and rich while the black columns on the sides make the dress flattering (which is rare for such a form-fitting piece).  To match the dress, I wore a beautiful black and gold jeweled necklace and gold stud earrings.  Finishing off the look, I chose black, strappy heels, two gold rings, and a gold, beaded bracelet.

Outfit Details:  Dress and Earrings courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Necklace from charlotterusse.com, Sweater by Merona at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Shoes by VS Collection at victoriassecret.com, Bracelet at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Gold Sparkly Ring from Charming Charlie (Scottsdale, Arizona), Gold Band from Premiere Designs.

Fashion Tip:  For this spring bold, vibrant colors are a must!  Get ready to see lots of floral, tribal, and striped prints.

My Style: We Will Always Have Paris

Today's Look:  shows how a girl can be edgy while still remaining classy.  To start the look off, I chose a white v-neck featuring the saying "WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS".  I personally adore this top.  When Charlotte Russe sent it to me, I couldn't wait to style it!  It's not only romantic, but I'm also drawn to it given the fact that my dream is to visit Paris someday.  To make the basic tee chic, I tucked the top into a fab faux-leather skirt with zipper details.  I like how the skirt isn't too short, but definitely isn't conservative either.  Next, I wore black suede, high-heeled ankle booties, and a sleek, black clutch.  Finishing off the look, I accessorized with a multi-metal, layered necklace, two rings, and silver stud earrings.

Outfit Details:  Top courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Skirt by Forever 21 from forever21.com, Shoes by Steve Madden from stevemadden.com, Necklace by Express from express.com, Purse at oasap.com, White Ring at nastygal.com, White & Black Ring by Silver Luxuries at Kohl's (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings from AĆ©ropostale (Tucson, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When trying to think of an edgy yet classy outfit, it's essential to remember to either have the sex appeal above the waist with a crop-top, strapless top, or spaghetti straps,  or below the waist with a mini skirt, pair of shorts, or form fitting pants, but not both.

Marie Claire Magazine Photo Shoot

Have you ever had a perfect day?  One of those days that you'd dreamed about but never thought would happen?  On Saturday, January 18th, I participated in a Marie Claire photo shoot for their monthly "Beauty Roadshow" article.  Each month, Marie Claire sends their beauty editor and photographer to a new city to document the street style and beauty trends of the local, fashionable young women.  This month, Joy Hernon, Beauty Editor, and Mark Lim, Photographer, were sent to Scottsdale, Arizona, to shoot the April 2014 issue.  I not only modeled for the shoot, but I was also hired as the Production Assistant for Joy.  It was my first official job for a fashion magazine and I was in heaven!  Joy and Mark flew in from New York and enjoyed the warm weather and western flare of Old Town Scottsdale.

A big thank you to photographer Mark Lim and editor Joy Hernon for making Marie Claire's "April Beauty Roadshow" photo shoot such a fun experience.  They are young, talented, kind, and funny!  I enjoyed getting to know them and asking them about the industry in between takes.  I learned that although 22 models were photographed during the Saturday shoot, only 9 or 10 will be published in the issue.  The art department decides which photos make the cut when they design the two-page layout. *fingers crossed*

Met up with my fellow Charlotte Russe Fashionista, Claire Planeta, during the shoot.  Her awesome blog is called Beauty and a Bargain.  We love our CR Social Media Marketing Director, Ryan Chua, for recommending us to the magazine and Anthony Federici, Photo Assistant at Marie Claire, for setting it up.  We had a blast!

Had a lovely time catching up with Emily Goswick, blogger of The Rancher's Daughter.  We attended the same high school, so it was great to be able to work together.  Congrats to her and her fiancĆ© on their recent engagement!

Got a chance to meet and chat with the current Miss Arizona, a.k.a. Jordan Wessel, while on set.  She's absolutely fabulous!  Believe it or not, she's even prettier in person. And yes... I realize I need to go to a tanning salon.  haha

My Style: Paint It Black

Today's Look:  channels the dark, grunge style of rock-in-roll.  This outfit is perfect for a wild night out on the town or going to a concert.  First, I chose the top.  I have been wanting a Rolling Stones top for awhile now but I kept finding sweatshirts, so when I found this sparkle-studded tank, I was thrilled!  The tank is long and loose, so I wore a black sports bra underneath for modesty.  Next, I chose the faux leather leggings and jacket.  I say, if you're going punk, go all the way.  Keeping the look mostly black, I wore platform, ankle boots and slapped on some eyeshadow for drama.  Finishing off the look, I wore a spiked necklace, black stud earrings, red lipstick, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Top by Rolling Stones Bravado at Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona), Pants and Jacket from Express (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes by Grey City at nastygal.com, Necklace by Charlotte Russe at charlotterusse.com, Black Bedazzled Ring by Silver Luxuries at Kohl's (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings from Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Midi-Chain Ring was a gift.

Fashion Tip:  Black is always a great choice for any outfit, day or night.  It's sleek, cool, and always has a certain edge to it.  So, when in doubt, or unsure of what to wear, a black outfit is a chic go-to!

Red Carpet Fashion: Golden Globe Awards 2014

On Sunday, January 12th, Hollywood celebrated the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards.  The hosts of the evening were Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.  The biggest stars from Leonardo DiCaprio to Taylor Swift were on the envy-worthy guest list.  Like every year, stars dressed to the hilt in designer suits and couture gowns.  All nominees and attendees looked fabulous!  To see the full list of awards and winners click here.  Now, if you want to see the fashion, I collected as many as I could of  the red carpet glam at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards.  Keep an eye out for my three favorite looks of the night:  Elisabeth Moss with an intricate and edgy beaded dress, Jenna Dewan-Tatum in a stunning and sexy monochromatic gown, and Michelle Dockery in a charming, fairytale-like ensemble.  Enjoy!
