My Style: Timber

Today's Look:  is named after one of the catchiest songs out right now, "Timber" by Pitbull ft. Ke$ha.  This look was inspired by the staple piece, the belted sweater dress from Poof Apparel.  The dress is so soft and warm, while the belt is a beautifully braided brown that compliments the taupe.  I love how the dress fits like a glove and is such great quality.  When it arrived, I started styling it in my head right away.  To create a complete winter outfit, I styled the dress with my favorite southwest-inspired fringe cardigan and brown, heeled boots.  The boots and belt matched perfectly.  I accessorized with a vintage hiker's hat that my Great Uncle Terry used to wear in the 1970s.  I finished off the outfit with black opaque tights, tarnished-gold drop earrings, and two tarnished-gold rings.

Outfit Details:  Dress and Belt courtesy of Poof Apparel , Sweater by American Eagle at ae.com, Boots by Lucky Brand at Dillard's, Tights by HUE at Dillard's, Earrings and Wrapped Ring at World Market, Band Ring by Aéropostale at Aéropstale, Hat is vintage.

Fashion Tip:  When wearing a short dress in the winter, a coat, sweater, or cardigan are a must.  When styling the two together, matching the lengths of the pieces helps create a finished and fabulous look!

My Style: Sophisticated Grunge

Today's Look:  is inspired by New York Fashion Week (NYFW) street style.  Even though I wasn't able to attend, I loved looking online over all runway fashion yes, but even more so, what the attendees were wearing.  NYFW goers definitely rocked the sophisticated grunge and I loved it!  To start the look off, I first chose the monochromatic maxi dress from Poof Apparel.  Poof Apparel is a clothing company for juniors that is sold at major stores such as Macy's, Wet Seal, Hot Topic, Arden B., Tilly's, and many more.  I was thrilled when Poof Apparel contacted me and sent me some of their trendiest pieces.  The dress is  made of a soft, opaque material featuring a beautiful, intricate design.  I styled the dress with a leather jacket and black platform boots.  Adding a touch of boho, I finished the look with a wide brim hat, stone ring, metal chain ring, black stud earrings, and multiple necklaces.

Outfit Details:  Dress courtesy of Poof Apparel , Jacket by Express at Express (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes by Grey City at nastygal.com, Hat at oasap.com, Layered Necklace by Lucky Brand at Dillard's (Presott, Arizona), Owl Necklace at P.J. Chilcottage (Flagstaff, Arizona), Earrings by Aéropostale from Aéropostale (Tucson, Arizona), White Stone Ring at nastygal.com, Two Piece Ring was a gift.

Fashion Tip:  Adding a leather jacket to a sweet maxi dress creates an edgy yet feminine look.

Runway Fashion: Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter

Cara leading the Fendi show
This year I have been so busy with graphic designing and school that I couldn't keep up with NYFW, but luckily I have been able to enjoy some of the Milan Fashion Week.  Milan's elite designers and fashion houses, including Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Moschino, and Cavalli, have all been showing off their best lines for Fall/Winter 2014/2015 this past week.  Jaw dropping pieces and stunning couture all graced the runway.  Below, I have included videos from the most buzzed about shows.  If you don't have time to watch them all, be sure to at least watch Moschino to enjoy the playfulness, Cavalli to experience the amazing runway, and my personal favorite BluGirl to see the beautiful femininity.  Let me know which one caught your eye!

My Style: All Around the World

Today's Look: is all about how to dress fashionably and comfortably while traveling.  Sitting, sleeping, and walking are activities to expect while traveling, so wearing soft, loose items is practical.  To start the look off, I chose a black top featuring a tiger (my favorite animal).  The top is a soft, cotton material with a loose fit. Next, I chose the hip "jogger" pants.  Lately, "jogger" pants have been making a major statement in street style.  They can be worn causally or dressed up (often times with strappy heels).  For me, I like to wear the pants casually since they are a baggy, comfortable fit.  For traveling with ease, a cute carry-on is essential.  I suggest an oversized purse or backpack.  I love backpacks.  I know some people think they aren't cool, but whatever.  I dig 'em.  I especially love this faux-leather backpack.  The black material and stud detailing make a potentially nerdy thing edgy and chic.  My travel essentials include my iPhone, charger, chapstick, water bottle, sweater, earbuds, and sunglasses--all items easy to fit into my bag.  Finishing off the look, I wore a beanie to cover potential bedhead from dozing, sunglasses to hide lack of makeup, a necklace for glam factor, and plaid Vans for comfort and style.

(Flagstaff, Arizona), Backpack by PINK at Victoria's Secret (Prescott, Arizona), Sunglasses at urbanog.com, Earrings from Aéropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Cross Ring by Forever 21 at forever21.com, Impress Nails at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Adding patterned or colored shoes to a low-key outfit really helps pump up the volume.

My Style: Wine and Dine

Today's Look:  is all about date night.  When Trendy Blendy sent me these beautiful, slouched boots and this intricate black belt, I was thrilled.  Since the boots are named the "Wine and Dine Burgundy Booties," I was immediately inspired by the pieces to create a date night outfit.  I looked through my closet and found this striped burgundy and black dress that matched both items perfectly.  Since it's still winter and chilly in northern Arizona, I styled the dress with black, opaque tights and a black (minus the) leather jacket.  Finishing off the look, I wore a gold trimmed, burgundy wallet, gold stud earrings, two gold rings, and burgundy nails.

Outfit Details:  Boots and Belt courtesy of Trendy Blendy , Bag and Earrings courtesy of Charlotte Russe ❤, Dress by City Triangles at JCPenney (Prescott, Arizona), Jacket from Express (Tucson, Arizona), Tights by HUE at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Sparkly Ring from Charming Charlie (Scottsdale, Arizona), Gold Band Ring from Premiere Designs, Impress Nails at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When deciding what to wear for a date night, you first want to find out where and what you'll be doing, so you can dress appropriately.  For example, going out for ice cream is way different then going on a hike.  On a date, you want to feel pretty, comfortable, and confident, so wear something that you're used to how it feels and looks.  I chose this dress because my favorite color is burgundy and I love how it emphasizes my waist.  Also, heeled slouchy boots are sexy yet understated, so you'll gain a few inches in the leg (always great) while not looking like you're trying too hard.

My Style: Roses are Red

Today's Look:  is all about creating a Valentine's Day outfit that is worthy of Blair from Gossip Girl.  Being a strong, fearless trendsetter, Blair was always my favorite character.  What better way to find fashion inspiration than the fictional OG of fashion herself.  To start the look off, I first chose the sleek, leatherette skater skirt and sophisticated black blouse.  I always love mixing edgy pieces with classic ones.  Next, I chose opaque black tights and cut-out ankle booties.  Not quite done with winter, the Arizona breeze still has a certain bitter chill in it.  To stay warm, while fabulous, I chose a plaid peacoat that brings together burgundy, black, and red.  Finishing off the look, I wore a red and gold detailed purse, a gold watch, two rings, and gold stud earrings.  Now, all I need is a Valentine's date. . . Harry Styles, call me ;)

Outfit Details:  Blouse, Purse, & Earrings courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Skirt from charlotterusse.com, Coat from Old Navy (Scottsdale, Arizona),  Boots by Merona at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Tights by HUE at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Watch and Bedazzled Ring from Charming Charlie (Tucson, Arizona), Gold Band from Premiere Designs.

Fashion Tip:  For a chic and cozy Valentine's Day outfit, burgundy is a great way to dress in the spirit of the holiday while not being over-the-top.

Brand Highlight: Delikate Rayne

Being a fashion addict, I always love to keep up with hot trends and new emerging brands!  Recently, I stumbled upon Delikate Rayne (pronounced "delicate rain").  Delikate Rayne is a fashion brand created by two sisters, Komie and Meg, with the mission not only to dress women impeccably but also to help create and encourage a cruelty-free fashion industry.  The brand uses premium vegan-only materials.

I think Delikate Rayne's mission is beautiful and important.  Their designs are chic, sophisticated, and interesting.  I definitely recommend checking out their website delikaterayne.com and watching their promo video featuring America's Next Top Model Hannah Jones below!

My Style: Denim on Denim

Today's Look:  shows how to stay casually chic while keeping warm in the winter.  First, I chose the light chambray top and dark denim jeans.  To contrast with the blue denims, I chose to wear a cozy camel coat.  Matching the camel coat's coloring, I chose studded, leopard print oxford flats.  I love how the sophisticated cut of the shoes compliments the playful print.  I accessorized with simple pearl earrings, sassy sunglasses, two rings, a bracelet, and a burgundy cross-body wallet for a pop of color.  Pulling it all together, I wore an infinity scarf featuring a tribal design including navy blue, olive green, light brown, and crisp white.

Outfit Details:  Wallet and Pearl Earrings courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Top by Mossimo Supply Co. at target.com, Jeans by Levi's at Macy's (Tucson, Arizona), Coat by Anne Klein at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Shoes by Gianni Bini at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Scarf at Urban Outfitters (Tucson, Arizona), Wrapped Ring from World Market (Prescott, Arizona), Band Ring from Aéropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Sunglasses from Basement Marketplace (Flagstaff, Arizona), Bracelet at Foot Fetish (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing a denim top with denim pants, for best results make sure the pants are a shade darker for contrast;  not only to distinguish the two from one another, but a darker shade on the jeans can be more flattering.
