My Style: Here Comes the Sun

I love music; I especially love listening to music while completing a photo shoot.  The Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" started playing and I felt the title was apropos for this shoot in the sunshine.  Trying not to be too envious of joyous posts from others who will be attending Coachella, I am harnessing my inner Coachella child with a bohemian-inspired styling.  I began the styling with an amazing bell sleeved, paisley print romper with tiny pom-pom trim on the hem.  Next, I added comfortable black booties with braided leather and metal embellishment detailing, boots that would be perfect for traipsing around a music festival.  Not normally a watch wearer because I live with my cell phone glued to my hand (haha), I received the most beautiful watch from the Daniel Wellington company.  The sleek watch I selected has Swarovski crystal and a black leather band--perfect for casual or dress up occasions.  Completing the styling, I added various jewelry pieces, an over-sized fringe bag (to pack everything I'd need at a music festival), and a great hat with silver concho-bead detailing.  I'm preparing for final exams and portfolio projects but dreaming of music festivals (inner pity party commence). . . . Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Dressing Up on the Pier

Springtime in northern Arizona is amazing with a slight chill at dawn and dusk but heavenly blue skies during the days.  I visited the incredible Goldwater Lake and watched the ducks from the pier.  For this look, I chose a beautiful dress from TFNC London that has a flattering silhouette with a flared skirt and long sleeves. I couldn't resist wearing these handsome platform, lace-up oxford flats along with sheer black tights.  Adding one of my favorite wide-brimmed hats and gold-rimmed sunnies, I was ready to enjoy an afternoon at the lake.

Well, finished a paper yesterday, had an exam today, and have projects due over the next three days--so, AAH!  Just had to fill you in with my thrilling college days--but I am loving getting my portfolio done, learning more computer skills for photography and websites, and making new friends.  College life isn't sooooo bad but it is hectic.

Also, today marks the two-year anniversary of Arizona Girl.  I want to say thank you to all my kind readers and wonderful collaborators!  Blogging continues to be an incredible journey and you all inspire me everyday to keep doing what I love, so thank you.  :) Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Metallic & Lace

Festival season is upon us, and I'm loving the emerging trends!  I began this styling with a beautiful pair of crocheted lace shorts with eyelash detailing on a scalloped hemline.  Next, I added a black, bell sleeve, off-the-shoulder blouse and a black panama hat with embroidered ribbon detailing.  These pieces are so much fun to style!  If you haven't guessed, the metallic temporary tattoos are one of the most popular body accessories this spring and summer.  Lastly, I slipped into metallic footbed slide sandals, and I'm ready for a great day.  Please let me know about any music festivals you attend this year; I know each festival is unique and has its own fantastic elements--I'd love to hear about them.  Xoxo, Shelly

How to Style Fringe Jackets

Being a lover of bohemian style, I adore fringe jackets - well really fringe anything.  I teamed up with blogger babe Esmirna Tapia of Platforms for Breakfast to show our adored readers two different ways of rocking fringe jackets.  I chose a beachy festival vibe since warm weather is here, and summer is right around the corner.  I styled my heather gray jacket with a halter-topped lace dress, delicate beaded sandals, and a wide-brimmed black hat.  A statement necklace, colorful tribal print purse, and cool sunnies completed the ensemble.  Esmirna, one of my lovely fellow Teen Vogue Fashion Click bloggers, chose to show a stylish white-on-white fringe jacket and skinny jeans along with strappy heels and a striped top. Whether you're a chic city girl or a free-spirited boho babe, fringe jackets are a wardrobe must.  I would love to hear how you rock your fringe in the comments.  Xoxo, Shelly
