My Style: Body, Mind, & Soul

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Gandhi

I've begun to do a little yoga and some peaceful meditation to help reduce (Dare I say the words for fear you'll think I'm trite and boring?) stress and anxiety.  Anyone else experience those two feelings from time to time?  Exercise overall makes me feel better, and I was thrilled when Express contacted me to review their new high performance workout line EXP Core.  When we (females) want to buy workout clothes, I know  we usually think of brands with certain athletic gear logos, but I have to tell you Express nailed it.  Built for maximum performance, these designs are on point from aesthetic appeal to functionality.  I'm wearing one of the EXP Core Mesh Racerback Sports Bras.  This sports bra has it all--coverage, cuteness, support, and a reasonable price point.  Believe me, I've tried so many sports bras from the ones that flatten you to the ones that are non-supportive--no thank you!  This one is perfect, and I love the mesh vents for breathability.  Next the EXP Core Strappy Tank in gray is soft, has moisture-wicking fabric, and fits like a dream.  Lastly, the EXP Core Compression Leggings, which have flat seems to eliminate chaffing and a special built-in zipper pocket for your keys, are of the best quality.  So, don't you deserve to pamper yourself with some new workout clothes?  I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you like to workout or relax.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Dressing Up for Fall

Dresses in the fall are so much fun!  When you are in the mood to look feminine but want to be totally carefree and comfortable, I recommend choosing a few bohemian inspired pieces.  I selected this absolutely beautiful dress with white lace and bell sleeves to go with tall brown boots and a brown floppy hat.  The boho appeal is addicting, so I also selected a long antiqued necklace with a feather motif.  Last, I added a distressed denim jacket for warmth, keeping the aesthetic casual and yet pretty.

I really do like to dress in a way that I feel a vibe of freedom and confidence, being my own person.  I hope this boho styling appeals to you and that you try it out!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Feeling 22

"It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters
And make fun of our exes, uh uh, uh uh.
It feels like a perfect night for breakfast at midnight
To fall in love with strangers, uh uh, uh uh.

Yeah,
We're happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time
It's miserable and magical.
Oh, yeah
Tonight's the night when we forget about the deadlines
It's time

Uh oh!
I don't know about you
But I'm feeling 22"

~Taylor Swift

The lyrics of Taylor's song are pretty much right on.  I turned 22 two weekends ago and two awesome friends came to visit me, explore Flagstaff, complete a photo shoot in the forest, and share many laughs along the way.  College life has its stresses with projects, exams, and reports, but it also has the benefit of meeting some sweet souls.  I'm feeling blessed at the young but older (possibly wiser) age of 22 :)

Now onto fashion. . . we wanted a forest setting for a bohemian inspired, fall styling.  I adore anything designed and made by Others Follow, such as this lovely dress and corduroy jacket.  Add a hat, combat boots, over-the-knee socks, and a beautiful purse by T-Shirt & Jeans, and you've got an amazing outfit for a day with great friends.  The forests are magical this time of year.  Another good reason to put down the books and go play.

Xoxo, Shelly

Free People Fall Festival

What's better than shopping at Free People?  Shopping at a Free People flagship store with one of your best friends!  Free People at the Chandler Shopping Center in Chandler, Arizona, invited me and Regan Norton, photographer extraordinaire, to their Fall Festival Gala to enjoy shopping, sweet treats, and goodie bags.  If you haven't been to the Chandler store yet, I totally recommend a road trip--and a shopping spree!  Plus, you will be greeted by the nicest ladies.

Here is one of the lovely FP models who is also the Chandler FP Store Stylist, Maryn Worhacz.  Maryn is a sophomore at Arizona State University, majoring in Entrepreneurship & Visual Analysis.

The fall collection is amazing from lace dresses to denim shifts.  Drool worthy designs!

To the event, I wore a FP top and jewelry with shorts by Urban Outfitters (FP sister company.)

I definitely felt a wee bit tiny (or rather, vertically challenged) standing next to Maryn (FP model) and the Chandler FP Store Manager, RenĂ©e Street.  Such nice ladies and such a great day!

Xoxo, Shelly
