Style Crush Saturday: Justin Bieber

Style Crush:  Justin Bieber
Known For:  Singing, Songwriting, Acting
Style:  Street, Baggy, Swag

This week's Style Crush is Justin Bieber.  Justin Bieber is a Canadian pop singer-songwriter, actor, and musician that came to fame through YouTube.  Justin was discovered in 2008 by his now-manager, Scooter Braun, when his mom posted videos of him singing at a local competition in his hometown of Stratford, Ontario.  Although Justin ended up getting second place in the Stratford Idol competition, he was soon flown to the United States to meet with Scooter.  Justin eventually got the opportunity to meet Usher, an established R&B singer, and perform one of Usher's original songs to him.  Usher was so impressed that he took Justin under his wing and still to this day is Justin's mentor and close friend.  Thanks to Usher and Scooter, Justin got his big break when L.A. Reid, major record executive, writer, and producer, offered him a record deal with Island Records.  Since then, Justin has released over 6 albums including My World 2.0, Under the Mistletoe, and Believe, two world tours, made a movie, Never Say Never, sold over 15 million albums, and won Artist of the Year twice.

Although Justin grew up in a small town, he always knew he was meant for something big.  Justin's dream of being a singer/entertainer only got stronger as he continued to grow up.  Even now when he is established and the third-most powerful celebrity in the world, according to Forbes magazine, Justin continues to push his artistic limits in his music, acting, and fashion.  Justin's fashion has influences from his childhood goofiness and his now hip-hop scene seriousness.  He has a nice balance of  fun and determination in his style.  Sometimes not everyone agrees with his baggy pants, big shoes, and backwards hats, but he stays true to himself and embraces the cultures of rap, hip-hop, and R&B that surround him.

My Style: Black Polka Dots

Today's Look:  emphasizes the beaded collar and black polka-dotted top.  The light peach color blouse stands out amongst the dark pieces of the outfit.  Since the shirt is classy and collared, I wore high-waisted tailored black shorts instead of cut-off denim short.  To match the black polka-dots on the top, I wore a black fringe purse, black creepers with black ankle socks, and dark lensed, bedazzled aviators.

Outfit Details:  Shirt by Audrey 3+1, Shorts by Kimchi Blue at Urban Outfitters (Scottsdale, Arizona), Shoes by Wild Diva at urbanog.com, Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Earrings by Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing a shirt with a beaded collar, do not wear a necklace.  The collar on the shirt is the necklace.

My Style: Floral Corset

Today's Look:  is all about the sweet, lace up, floral corset top.  To start the look off, I chose the pink flowered corset top and burgundy shorts to bring out the burgundy in the top's design.  Since the corset is spaghetti strapped, I wore a light, cream colored cardigan that matched with the top's chiffon ruffles.  Matching the colors in the shirt and shorts, I wore multicolored, jeweled sandals and earrings to make the outfit pop.  Finishing off the look, I wore a jeweled bracelet, hippie bag, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Corset Top by Zinga at Basement Market Place (Flagstaff, Arizona), Shorts by Bullhead Black at PacSun (Scottsdale, Arizona), Cardigan by Mossimo at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Sandals by Steve Madden at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings by Charming Charlie's (Scottsdale, Arizona), Purse by Rising International at a beach shop (San Diego, California).

Fashion Tip:   When wearing a corset top, go for the sweet look rather than one with a dominatrix vibe.  A corset top is already edgy and sexy enough; therefore, try to cutesy up the top for a more feminine, innocent look.

My Style: Hippie Chic

Today's Look:  is all about channeling one's inner hippie style.  To start the outfit off, I chose a loose baby doll, floral printed blouse.  The blouse's design contains muted pinks, burgundies, greens, and browns.  To match the brown colors in the floral print, I wore dark brown corduroys and rolled them up at the bottom since the weather was warm, and a tarnished gold necklace with crystals at the end.  Matching the navy and purple coloring of the blouse, I wore dark blue sandals and a purple beach bag.

Outfit Details:  Shirt at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Pants by Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona), Necklace by EB at Earthbound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Sandals by Mossimo at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Bag at a beach shop (San Diego, California.)

Fashion Tip:  Every now and then it's grounding to wear earth tones, long crystal necklaces, and wavy hair in honor of the beauty that is nature.

My Style: Tiger Jersey

Today's Look:  is all about the sequined tiger jersey.  To start the look off, I chose to wear my favorite animal, a tiger, on a grey jersey cut tank top.  Since there is black detailing throughout the top, I wore my cut-off black jean shorts, black strappy sandals, and black Betsey bag.  The bag has gold metal on it, so I wore gold hoop earrings, two gold rings, and two black/gold bracelets to match.

Outfit Details:  T-shirt by Mind Code at Basement Market Place (Flagstaff, Arizona), Shorts at Charlotte Russe (Scottsdale, Arizona), Purse by Betsey Johnson at betseyjohnson.com, Sandals by Montego Bay Club at Payless (Prescott, Arizona), Top Bracelet at Kohl's (Prescott, Arizona), Spike Bracelet at urbanog.com, Earrings at Macy's (Scottsdale, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing a jersey cut tank top, which gives off a muscular/boyish appeal, add a feminine touch by wearing tight bottoms, whether it's tight shorts, skinny jeans, or a pencil skirt.

My Style: White on White

Today's Look:  is sweet and happy.  The outfit consists of a white '60s inspired blouse that has sequined white flowers with yellow middles.  To keep a sweetness about the outfit, I paired the blouse with white lace, high-waisted shorts.  The shorts complimented rather than fought since the whites were the same color.  Trying to pull out the yellow centers of the sequined flowers, I wore gold sandals.  Finishing off the look, I wore a white purse, gold/ white bracelet, two rings, and mother of pearl earrings.

Outfit Details:  Top by Mono B at Basement Market Place (Flagstaff, Arizona), Shorts by Must Have at P.J. Chilcottage (Flagstaff, Arizona). Sandals by Delia's at delias.com, Bracelet at Charlotte Russe (Scottsdale, Arizona), Purse at Charming Charlies (Scottsdale, Arizona), Earrings were a gift.

Fashion Tip:  White on white can feel cleansing and pristine, as well as happy.

Style Crush Saturday: Kendall Jenner

Style Crush:  Kendall Jenner
Known For:  Modeling, Reality TV Show Personality
Style:  Glamorous, Sexy, Chic

Kendall Jenner is an American reality TV star on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, along side her famous siblings and parents.  Even though Kendall got her start as being a little sister of Kim and the daughter of Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner, she has made a name for herself as an up-and-coming model, brand ambassador for Seventeen Magazine, and fashion designer for her self titled brand, Kendall & Kylie through PacSun.

Even though Kendall has grown up as being "the Kardashian's little sister"  she has definitely made a name for herself for her beauty, poise, and style.  Kendall always dresses to impress.  Her famous long legs are normally emphasized in short dresses, skirts, and shorts.  Kendall never misses a chance to be feminine, sexy, and glamorous whether it's modeling in front of the camera, walking around her hometown of L.A., or smiling on the red carpet.

My Style: Wild Child

Today's Look:  is all about the animal printed high-wasited shorts.  The unique rust color of the denim and metal studs sewn onto the sides really makes the piece pop.  Since the shorts are intricate, I chose a simple black v-neck shirt to match, not pulling attention away.  To go along with a jungle inspired theme, I wore my black combat boots, black fringe purse, and a tarnished gold tribal necklace.  Even though the outfit only consists of two colors, black and rust, it is far from dull.  The animal print studded shorts, suede fringe purse, boots, and wild necklace all make the outfit interesting and work without needing more colors.  To finish off the look, I braided my hair to the side leaving wisps out framing my face for a more casual, messy look.

Outfit Details:  Shorts by Rehab Clothing at urbanog.com, Top by Mossimo at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Boots by Steve Madden at Nordstrom (Scottsdale, Arizona), Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Earrings by EarthBound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Necklace at World Market (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing patterned shorts, make sure to wear a top that not only matches the shorts, but also compliments rather than distracts from.

My Style: Sequins & Denim

Today's Look:  is all about the glitz and glamour of summer fashion.  Summer is for fun in the sun, spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities, and/or being a couch potato (whatever is your thing), but  summer is also about style.  Everyone's style changes in the summer.  Some exchange their school appropriate crop pants for short shorts, while others wear a swimsuit for 3 months straight.  Sometimes summer even brings out the more earthy/makeup-free side of people, but for me I still like to be fashionable even in 90+ degree weather.  To start the look off, I chose a white sequined tank top and a pair of high-waisted denim shorts.  The rips in the shorts and shredded bottoms contrast with the elegance of the top, keeping the outfit casual. To accessorize, I wore a white and gold bracelet, a heart bracelet, gold floral bedazzled hoop earrings, and two rings.  Finishing off the look, I wore gold jeweled sandals and a white/gold chained turquoise purse.

Outfit Details:  Top by XXI at Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona), Shorts by Good Time at urbanog.com, Sandals by Steve Madden at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Purse by Nila Anthony at Clothes Hound (Prescott, Arizona), White Bracelet at Charlotte Russe (Scottsdale, Arizona), Heart Bracelet at Forever 21.

Fashion Tip:  Adding colorful sandals and a fun purse to a simple outfit equals a more exciting completed ensemble.

My Style: Graphic Tee & Creepers

Today's Look:  is all about the graphic tee which features an abstract design of geometric shapes, metallic detailing, and a female's face.  To start the outfit off, I chose my white t-shirt, blue skinny jeans, and black creeper shoes.  Since the shirt has the color mint within its design, I wore a silver and mint clip bracelet.  Finishing off the look, I wore black round framed sunglasses, suede fringed purse, and a leather jacket.

Outfit Details:  Shirt, Jeggings, & Leather Jacket at Express (Scottsdale, Arizona), Shoes by Wild Diva at urbanog.com, Sunglasses at urbanog.com,  Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Bracelet at Kohl's (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Black round framed sunglasses are a staple for any wardrobe.

My Style: Vintage Hipster

Today's Look:  is all about channeling a vintage hipster vibe.  Even though I don't shop at flea markets or second hand stores, I still like to dress with hipster influences from time to time.  To start the look off, I chose my cream colored, high-waisted shorts, navy sheer, collared shirt, and brown waist belt.  Making the outfit similar to a romper, I tucked the blouse into the shorts and belted the two articles of clothing together at the waist to create a full ensemble.  To match the brown in the belt, I wore brown beaded sandals with silver detailing.  Matching the cream color of the shorts, I wore a cream colored purse.  Finishing off the outfit, I wore a beaded bracelet, two rings, bow earrings, and oversized tortoise sunglasses.

Outfit Details:  Blouse at Papaya (Tucson, Arizona), Shorts by Sparkle and Fade at Urban Outfitters (Scottsdale, Arizona), Belt at Delia's (Scottsdale, Arizona), Sandals by DBDK Fashion, Earrings at Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona), Bracelet at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Purse at Charming Charlies (Scottsdale, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  High-waisted shorts are huge this summer! Whether it's '80s looking denim shorts or '60s material vintage, high-waists are in.

Style Crush Saturday: Harry Styles

Style Crush:  Harry Styles
Known For:  Singing, Being a member in One Direction
Style:  Hipster, Grunge, European

This week's Style Crush is Harry Styles.  Harry Edward Styles is a British singer that came to fame when he was a contestant on the U.K.'s X-Factor in 2010.  Even though Harry did not make it past boot camp, Harry was offered a spot in a five person boy-band that later became known as One Direction.  Accepting the invitation into the group, Harry went on to win 3rd place in the competition alongside his fellow band members, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson.  Since their adventure on the X-Factor U.K., One Direction has become one of the world's hottest recording bands with two number one albums, Up All Night and Take Me Home, as well as multiple hit singles, including "What Makes You Beautiful," "Kiss You," and "Live While We're Young."

When Harry Styles first came into the public's eye, he was young and not quite sure of himself or his style, but now he has grown  into a confident charmer with effortless style that has stolen millions of young girls' hearts around the world.  Harry's laid back, old rock band t-shirts and skinny jeans have become his trademark.  Although on his free time Harry likes to dress casually, on the red carpet he is never underdressed.  With his band mates beside him, Harry is known for being the one with a bow-tie and thick curls.  As Harry keeps on maturing, his fashion continues to evolve and form a unique style that suits him well.

My Style: Jeepers Creepers

Today's Look:  is all about my first pair of creepers.  Creepers are a type of shoe that are usually with suede upper and thick crepe soles.  They originated a few years after World War II when soldiers were based in North Africa.  Due to the surrounding climate and environment, soldiers wore suede boots with durable crepe rubber soles.  After leaving the army, many soldiers found their way to busy London with its popular night scene, bringing their funky shoes along with them.  Since then, the creeper shoes have become more of a fashion statement than a worker's shoe.  To start the outfit off, I chose my leopard print shirt that has a black jeweled anchor on the front, high-waisted jean shorts, and my creepers.  Since the shoes are black, I chose my black fringed purse and round sunglasses to finish the look.

Outfit Details:  Shoes by Wild Diva Lounge at urbanog.com, Shirt by The Clas-sic at Black Hound Gallerie (Flagstaff, Arizona), Shorts by ChiQle at urbanog.com, Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Sunglasses at urbanog.com.

Fashion Tip:  If you haven't heard of creeper shoes, definitely check them out!  They are a current trend, super comfortable, and very fashionable.

My Style: Black Fringe

Today's Look:  features an animal print dress, a black sheer top, suede ankle boots, and a black suede fringe purse.  The dress is spaghetti strapped, beaded along the neckline, and form fitting from the waist up.  I didn't fee like being overly girly today though, so I covered the top portion with an animal print, sheer blouse.  The top has loose ruffles along the bottom and gathered material at the shoulders.  To break free of the sandals-in-summer norm, I wore ankle boots and short socks.  Finishing off the ensemble, I wore tarnished gold, jeweled hoop earrings,  two rings, and a black suede fringed purse.

Outfit Details:  Dress by American Rag at Macy's (Scottsdale, Arizona), Shirt by Pins and Needles at Urban Outfitters (Scottsdale, Arizona), Boots by Steve Madden at 6pm.com, Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Earrings at Target (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Ankle boots with a short dress give an outfit a more grunge feel.  Dresses can sometimes seem too formal or out of place, so ankle boots make a dress fit into a more casual setting.
