My Style: You Can't Make Up With Us

Today's Look:  celebrates being sassy and having fun with it.  The “You Can’t Make Up With Us” crop top is perfect with the shredded, tie-dyed cutoffs, plaid shirt, and gladiator platform sandals.  The look was great for a casual day of exploring and relaxing.  I accessorized with a chevron print backpack, layered bracelet, and bohemian-inspired rings.  I love the clash of the backpack's design with the plaid - it's unexpected yet somehow pleasing.  I packed a comfy blanket, some of favorite new makeup essentials, including a mirror/screen protector on my phone (seriously so handy), and my new book, Bloom: A Girl's Guide to Growing Up Gorgeous to catch up on beauty tips and tricks.  On my downtime, I love reading fashion magazines and beauty books to stay current and gain inspiration; this book specifically has some great ideas and beautiful photos.  Days of relaxation and meditation are even more important now that school is back in session.  Always try to remember to treat yourself to some "me" time, because you deserve it and you're worth it.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Lace and Bamboo

Today's Look:  was taken in front of a patch of bamboo I discovered at the end of a small, charming street in my hometown.  Bamboo is known to bend and not break in the worst of weather, and it’s compared to a person’s character and essence withstanding the storms of life.  Some believe bamboo brings luck or signifies keeping true to yourself (fitting for the start of a new school year).  I felt the setting was perfect for an outfit that was both innocent and sexy, conservative and edgy.  For my styling, I like to stay true to myself, staying feminine but having a bit of toughness or touch of quirkiness.  This pretty lace bustier dress combined with a soft, knitted sweater and black cut out boots with funky socks are a perfect combination of sweet, fun, and sexy.  Hope you enjoy this outfit as much as I enjoyed styling it.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Shake It Off

Today's Look:  emphasizes the beauty of a bohemian-inspired festival styling.  A rose print, sheer kimono over a black lace crop top with embroidered denim cutoffs and cool, buckle sandals make such a comfortable yet beautiful combination.  As summer comes to an end in Arizona, so does the festival season.  But you will see me continue to style with bohemian touches.  I've discovered that one of my favorite fashion genres is what I like to call bohemian grunge.  I see it as bohemian with an edge, not total hippie, not total punk.  But maybe a relaxed combination somewhere in between.  To complete this outfit styling, I added round, metal lace sunnies, a crystal pendant necklace, a studded leather bracelet, and two pretty, tarnished gold rings.  Of particular note are the burgundy sandals--have you ever seen a pair of shoes that you couldn't resist?  Meet my buckle-adorned sandals in distressed leather with layered wood heels. :)  BTW, if you haven't heard Taylor Swift's brand new single, "Shake It Off", I highly recommend that you check it out.  It's definitely my anthem for the new school year!  I included her new video below for ya. Trust me, it will make you want to dance and brighten your day. Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  Every person (guy and girl) needs to have at least one crystal pendant necklace and one studded leather bracelet.  Then enjoy the beauty of wearing them together.  Perfection.

Boutique Review: Immediate Fashion Company

Over the summer, I had fun traveling to Tucson, Arizona.  While I was there, I visited one of the stores I collaborate with called Immediate Fashion Company.  Of course to a fashion blogger, a clothing boutique is like a candy store to a kid--totally awesome!  The boutique is about 2 minutes from the University of Arizona; I recommend that the college students check out the store :)  They carry trendy clothing for men, women, & kids.  For my readers not located in Arizona or California, you can visit their online store: here.  I just thought I'd let my Tucson friends know about the new store opening.  Enjoy!  Also, I don't know about you, but school started up for me again today - which totally calls for retail therapy!  If you need me, I will be shopping.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Summertime Sadness

Today's Look:  showcases a soft, jersey knit romper with a delicate scarf print from Charlotte Russe.  This is the most comfortable, and oh-so cute playsuit with a fitted silhouette and spaghetti straps.  I love that it's fashionable and versatile.  I've worn it on date nights, road trips and shopping adventures.  For this particular casual day, I accessorized with a sweater kimono, silver jewelry, and lace up, heeled booties.  So bummed that school starts Monday for me.  Really trying to live it up this weekend!  haha  I wish for you a beautiful day.  Xoxo, Shelly
