Summertime means hosting my friends over at my family’s home once a week to catch up on life and spend time together. Whether we enjoy a backyard BBQ or play board games out on the deck, if the sun is out, the snacks are out. Being a good hostess means serving your guests snacks that not only taste good, but that will delight them and meet their dietary needs. Some of my friends are allergic to gluten and are health conscious about fried foods and chemicals. And everyone has their flavor preferences. Accommodating everyone can be tricky, but popchips makes it easy whether you're craving salty or sweet! With their gluten-free, non-gmo snacks and wide variety of popchip flavors, including Sea Salt, BBQ, Buffalo Ranch, Sour Cream & Onion, and Cheddar & Sour Cream, popchip snacks are perfect for summertime snacking. For a sweeter palate, they have nutter puffs in peanut butter and peanut butter & chocolate, both are gluten free and packed with protein. I not only love the taste of these snacks, but I love that they are popped, not fried, and are only 130 calories per serving. My girlfriends and I can eat guilt free! Having fun with friends and feeling good about what you're eating helps make summertime the best.

Besides offering a variety of snacks, a hostess should have fun activities planned. Here are some games I recommend for groups of all sizes and ages to enjoy:

  • Apples to Apples card game. The object of the game is to have your noun “red apple” card selected by the round’s judging player to match his or her adjective “green apple” card. It gets hilarious!
  • Heads Up by Ellen DeGeneres via a cell phone app that is so entertaining. You select a category of charades or trivia. You guess the word that is on your phone facing your team from your friends’ clues. They will either yell out descriptions or do charades.
  • Fishbowl is fun because all players write in 5-7 words or phrases on pieces of paper. Divide your guests into two teams. You place the papers into a bowl and one player selects a paper with their team having one minute to guess the word or phrase. Different rounds can be charades, some can be words to explain, and some can be drawings like Pictionary. My friends and I also do a finger puppet round that always cracks us up.
  • Jackbox is another game option that my friends and I enjoy. It is a digital game set series that you can buy on your computer and video game console. It is a blast with the options of games and player involvement.

What are your favorite foods/snacks to serve at a game night? If you’ve tried popchips, what’s your favorite flavor? Also, do you have any game recommendations? I would love to hear them in the comments below! Hope you are having an awesome summer. Xoxo, Shelly
