Today's Look: shows how to work comfy, loose overalls into a street-chic outfit. For the look, I started with the overalls. I am loving the overalls trend that is resurfacing in the sleek streets of New York and the sunny hills of California, so I couldn't wait to rock these. This particular pair of overalls is a moderate boyfriend fit, meaning not overly baggy or large. Since the overalls are modest, I chose a velvet crop-top that lets just a hint of skin be visible from my hips to my waist. To match the acid-washed, black denim and burgundy velvet, I picked black floral Vans. I like how the sneakers gave the look a flirty tomboy feel. Finishing off the look, I chose a black clutch, bedazzled sunglasses, a shimmery bracelet, skull earrings, and multiple rings.
Outfit Details: Overalls by Bullhead Denim Co. at PacSun (Scottsdale, Arizona), Top by Basil Lola at Basement Marketplace (Flagstaff, Arizona), Shoes by Vans at Journeys (Prescott, Arizona), Clutch from
oasap.com, Sunglasses from Old Navy (Tucson, Arizona), Earrings by Wet Seal at Blink (Anaheim, California), Black Ring at Earthbound Trading co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Big Ring at Bealls (Prescott, Arizona), Faith Ring from Premiere Designs, Nails by Impress Nails at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona), Eyeliner called Perfect Wear Eyewriter and Super Extend Infinitize Mascara from Avon, Bracelet and Midi Ring were gifts.
Fashion Tip: Trying a new makeup technique or style can feel refreshing and transform an outfit to another level. I have a normal makeup routine that I have become comfortable with, not too heavy, but effective. For this look, I wanted to try something new and out of my comfort zone. I have always loved how winged eyeliner seems dramatic and elegant. Since I am a newbie to this technique, I followed a YouTube tutorial (which I included below).

Cute shoes! And your eyeliner looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Katie! :)
DeleteHi Shelly!
ReplyDeleteI somehow stumbled across your blog while looking for reviews of Vans and I absolutely love these Vans! I am looking at purchasing my very first pair! I have read all sorts of stories on various websites about Vans making feet really sweaty so I have been hesitant to buy a pair in the past. Has this been your experience with Vans (either these or other styles of Vans) or are your feet always dry when you wear them? Do you wear them with socks?
Fantastic website, by the way! You have a new fan!
Sarah.
Hi Sarah!
DeleteI'm so glad you wrote to me. Being somewhat of a shoe addict, I have owned multiple pairs of Vans over the years (and still do.) I have come to really like the Vans with more of a Ked's cut, meaning lace-up and thin sole. They are more breathable and light compared to the classic thick soled Vans; although I do own more of the classic because of the awesome fabric designs. The classic cut is comfy and fabulous for a few hours, but when I wear them for long periods of time like all day at school, my feet do get warm and my heels start to rub raw. Vans are very fashionable and fun. They are great in the summer with shorts and in the winter with skinny jeans! My pairs have lasted a long time. I wouldn't recommend wearing them to Disneyland or any type of workout, but for day-to-day life they are great! I do wear socks with my Vans, but for photo purposes I didn't.
Again, I'm so glad you left a comment! I always love hearing from my readers.
Hope this feedback helps you decide. :)
Sincerely,
Shelly
Hi Shelly!
ReplyDeleteRad outfit--love the velvet and acid wash combination.
I was thinking about buying those overalls on Poshmark, and I was wondering what size yours are. I'd like them to be more of a boyfriend fit, so I'm wondering if I should size up. I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know!
Keep having excellent taste~~
Love,
Reyna
Hi Reyna! Mine are size 7 and loose, but not total boyfriend fit. Maybe go for a 9? Bullhead Denim uses juniors sizing so they tend to be skinny. :)
