Lost in the Desert

Before the temperatures reach in the triple digits, I have been taking trips to Phoenix to explore and create. This spot was right off the highway near a newer rest stop. It was an empty lot (about a 100 yards from the highway) with a breathtaking view. We explored near where we parked for a bit and captured some photos during golden hour. By explored I mean we walked around the dirt lot for about 20 minutes taking some fun photos. haha We faux explored 'cause the sun was going down, and I was wearing sandals and a skirt. I was stoked to get some saguaro cacti in the background! Fun fact: the saguaro blossoms are Arizona's state wild flower.

After the quick shoot, we decided to stop at the gas station to grab some snacks for the road. To my surprise, I saw a sign on a wall that stated, “Poisonous snakes and insects inhabit the area”. Um.... WHAT? 😳 I'm aware that rattlesnakes and scorpions reside throughout the desert; out of curiosity, I googled how many more dangerous wild life live in Arizona, and honestly, I don't recommend it. The creatures look terrifying. Moral of the story: always stay on a trail, keep your eyes peeled for danger, and don't wear sandals (like me). We didn't hike or intrude on any wild life. So, all is well. But still, I wonder what would have happened if we had come upon a snake or insect. EEK! 😣 Stay safe y'all. Xoxo, Shelly
