My Style & Travel: Hollywood Sign

One of the most well known tourist attractions in Los Angeles is the Hollywood Sign. The location of the sign can be reached on a rigorous hike (which you can find where to park for via Google.) The location to take a photo with the sign in the background can be reached by driving, however you can't Google the address as easily. If you try to type in the Hollywood Sign into your phone's map app, you will find a confusing route that will have obstacles, including road blocks. Locals that live near the photo location have taken it upon themselves to make it as difficult as possible for visitors to find their desired destination. It's understandable that the traffic wouldn't be ideal for homeowners, but when there's a will there's a way.

Before I arrived in LA, I researched the best route to getting to the photo area for the Hollywood Sign. I found this video helpful. The address you should type into your phone or GPS is 3204 Canyon Lake Dr, Los Angeles, CA. Things to keep in mind: parking is limited in the residential area and only parallel, crowds of people will be in lined up to take the same photo so be patient, and you still might have a steep hike if you have to park far away, so wear/bring comfy shoes. My tip: take an Uber or have your friend or family member be willing to drop you off and pick you up. My dad was a trooper and volunteered to be the driver. He quickly dropped me and my photographer off, waited to the side of the road on top of the hill until we texted him we were done with photos, and then drove back down so we could jump back in. The mission could have been accomplished without a driver, but we would have had to hike. The only open parking spot was a mile down the steep hill. Doable, but not ideal on a hot, busy day.

For this look I wore ivory jeans with a light top, both from Wild Blue Denim. To contrast the light colors, I wore black sandals, a black hat, and dark sunnies. You can't go wrong with a monochromatic chic look. This look was perfect for a day full of adventure. The sandals are from Oka-B and, if you read my last post, you know I am a fan! Oka-B has such amazing shoes that are perfect for travel shenangins because they are comfy, stylish, and water proof. Have you ever been to the Hollywood Sign? Let me know in the comments below. Xoxo, Shelly
