My Style & Travel: Beachin’ It at Pahoehoe

One of my favorite beaches on the Big Island is Pahoehoe Beach, located in Kailua-Kona. We observed a large sea turtle sunning (he's on the sand behind me to the left) and were careful not to touch him. The fines for touching, grabbing, or harassing sea turtles in Hawaii is a fine up to $25,000 plus a year in jail. Needless to say, we kept a good distance away to watch this amazing reptile sunbathe on the sand surrounded by beautiful lava rocks and coral rubble. Tall palms and large kiawe trees provide plenty of shade, and, coupled with lots of grass, this beach is perfect for picnics and relaxing.

For my afternoon here, I decided to wear a black cage bikini with a floral kimono, cuffed denim cutoffs, and gladiator sandals. I love this bathing suit--it has great coverage but is sophisticated chic in design. The necklace is beautiful for the styling, but I did take it off to play in the sun and surf. I hope you are enjoying my travel highlights and links about the Big Island of Hawaii. Aloha, Shelly
